One of my favorite meals to make on the BBQ any time of year is salmon. I love making it on a cedar plank. It is one of the easiest and tastiest meals.
My husband and I enjoyed this yummy meal several times at a friend's house. I finally had to ask for the recipe so that I could make it myself. She also always made it known that she used wild-caught salmon, not farm-raised.
When I made salmon before having this recipe, it was always dry. Something about the soaked plank makes it not only moist but gives it a wonderful flavor too. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.
Soak the cedar plank for 30 minutes in a sink full of freshwater.
You need to soak the cedar planks so that the smoke rather than burn. You can buy your cedar planks on Amazon.
Preheat your grill.
You want your grill to be at an even temperature for grilling your salmon. The optimal temperature is 350 degrees.
While your cedar plank is soaking and your grill is preheating, let's get busy making the dry rub.
The dry rub gives your fish a delicious flavor. You will want to make sure you put lots of the spice rub on your salmon for the best flavor.
You may want to mix up a few batches and keep on hand.
I like to wash my fish. I am not sure if this is a requirement or not? I run my fish under cold water and pat dry with a paper towel.
Place your salmon skin side down on the soaked plank and rub in the spices sparingly.
Place the cedar plank with your salmon onto the preheated grill. Cook for approximately 30 minutes, please note that cooking time depends on the size and thickness of the salmon. No need to flip or turn the salmon. With the cedar plank under your fish, it protects it from direct heat.
Your salmon is done when the fish begins to flake. It should not look raw.
Remove from the grill, cover with aluminum foil for 5 minutes to let it rest.
I hope you like making salmon on the grill as much as I do! A perfect side dish is colorful veggies.
ENJOY!
